I'm considering opening a frozen yogurt cafe like Pinkberry, Red Mango, YogurtSpot, etc.... I was wondering if Charlotte would have a market for a concept like this?
I call it FroGurt! I know that personally I am cutting back on buying things like ice cream of FroGurt even from the grocery let alone a cafe type place.
A new frozen yogurt spot just opened on Sardis road, next to Jimmy's John and Tony's Pizza. I think this business will be risky, considering the market. But this depends on location. Next to a movie theater will do good business. Something about leaving the movies and going next door to pick-up frozen yogurt--certainly appeals to me.
Do you know the name of the yogurt spot on Sardis, i would like to sample their product.
I went by there today...it's a Rita's. I always thought they were mainly water ice, but the sign said ice, custard, etc. Don't know if that's in the same ballpark as what you're considering.
I don't think they know what you're exactly talking about. Fortunately I do, and I am sad to say that I don't think there's one in this market. I am thinking about opening a place like pinkberry, redmango, or theyogurtspot. I'm currently doing research to see if Charlotte has a market for something like this. And you are right, it is addictive. My wife is from OC and I'm from Houston, so we know what you're talking about.
We do know what frozen yogurt is.
There may be a market since many TCBY's have closed. Ice cream places have a very limited frozen yogurt selection. Years ago there was a chain called I Can't Believe It's Yogurt. All of the above offer(ed) the traditional toppings.
If you are going to open a "frogurt" shop w/ healthy toppings in this area, a good location may be where people are more health conscious. Perhaps near a large gym or a popular park. Another option would be uptown, you'd get a lot of traffic there.
This is kind of a neat place in Raleigh. They franchise, so it may be worth it to check out!!!
