I just had an inspection of a home I want to purchase, and the inspector found serious structural damage to the floor joists and beams in the crawlspace. The joists and beams have dry rot from moisture in the crawlspace. The inspector told me to contact a licensed contractor specializing in structural repair. Can anyone recommend a contractor for this type of repair in the Charlotte area? Thanks, Chuck

Joel Whitley
Whitley Engineering

I would bet at least 50% of the real estate agents in Charlotte use him including me. He is really really good and very thorough. Also can provide recommended contractors for the repairs.

Default Joel Whitley

I have been asking around for a structural inspector and everyone consistently pointed me to Joel Whitley. He just did an inspection for me and he did a great job.

Default Contractors

First get a structural engineering report, ditto on Joel Whitley for that. Home inspectors do a great job but they are not engineers.

2 contractors I've used for structural repairs:
Garnet Development 704-488-2448
Crosscut Construction 803-548-4931 (in Ft. Mill but I believe they are NC licensed).

Good luck!

Joel Whitley is a great guy. I know him.

And there is a guy by the name of Johnny Carbin that was once owner of Harp Renovations. Has gone back to doing all the work himself. Great carpenter, Try him... 704-622-2165 Does a good job and Pretty reasonable.
