Do you mean one of those places with the 3 balls hanging outside?
Hey, don't laugh, life is tough out there in the trenches.
Don't laugh at me....but I'm not sure what "3 balls hanging outside" is. I have some nice jewelry, like pearls and diamonds, that I need to sell. Life is tough in the trenches and I'm not used to it.

Pawn shop. Tough audience to play to. Very few laughs and nobody throws dollars anym ore.
Don't go to Perry's. Its a good suggestion but I know a few people that used to work there.
Take it to Sumpters. Just google it. Go and speak with Hal. Don't take his 1st or 2nd offer, accept the 3rd. You will have to "play the game" with him back and forth a little but he will pay you a fair price I promise.
I've sold him TONS of stuff over the years. Both of my parents have worked in the jewelry business forever and everyone takes stuff to Sumpters.

Glad you posted your personal experience. I only suggested Perry's since it's been around quite a while, but I've never dealt with them. Given your suggestion I will remember Sumpters if I ever want to sell/buy some jewelry
Huckabees, is downtown almost across the street from the courthouse. They were very pleasant to deal with. It's in the basement of a building. I was on jury duty, so I brought my stuff with me and went there on our lunch break (less than 2 blocks).
On the same topic.... when you sell gold, is there haggling involved or is it a straight weight for $'s?
Also, how do you play the game? What do you say without offending the sales person? I'm afraid I've never been very good at this.
