The town of Weddington website is reporting that widening of Providence Rd/ Route 16 will begin March 1st. Lane closures will be at night. The project is not scheduled to be complete until fall 2010. I hope the contractors get a bonus for early completion so they will work quickly!

I can't even begin to imagine the traffic nightmare that project is going to be.

good luck. even with the widening, the traffic won't get much better especially with all the new development planned along the highway. someone needs to get a handle on the development.

If past performance is any indictation of the future than this DOT project will be a year or more past its deadline before completion....so maybe 2011 is more realistic. Remember the Observer had a recent article about a study of DOT projects, some 40% of the projects were a year overdue.
