Howdy,

I'm relocating to the Charlotte area and am looking for a bedroom community possibly outside of one of the suburbs. I'm willing to commute up to 1 hour into uptown if I find the perfect spot.

Wish List:
* Safe area
* 2+ acres for a small hobby farm (a.k.a. personal petting zoo) with chickens, ducks & goats
* Non-dead/non-depressing town or at least easy driving to a town/suburb with shopping and restaurants... something other than fast food and a rundown grocery store

I'm moving from the foothills outside of Denver so some natural beauty would be a great thing. My kids are grown and schools really do not matter anymore. Yay!

Ideally, I'd love to move somewhere outside of Asheville but the job market seems to be pretty lean.

Much thanks on any ideas!

Look around Lincolnton, maybe outside Gastonia, and east of Charlotte between Concord and Albemarle.

Look around Kings Mountain. You'll get ~1 hour commute to Uptown & easy access to Gastonia for almost everything else.

Consider Indian Trail, it has land for sale what you're looking for and it's within an hour of uptown. I live in Monroe which is the next town and also has land.

if your interested in building, pm me theres two 4 acre lots for sale close to where I live. It's very country but 15 minutes from uptown charlotte. one of the last little pockets, and it will stay that way. It's on a dead end road

Depends on your price point. You can find areas that meet your criteria close to Charlotte but it really depends on the amount you wish to spend

We have several friends who have moved out on the far end of Mint Hill/Unionville/Midland/Locust/Stanfield area. They all work in Charlotte and the commute isn't more than an hour.

You could also look in South Waxhaw/Mineral Springs.
