Charlotte Public Schools - Myers Park (magnet schools, best, area)

I have been doing some research on schools in the Charlotte area, and it appears that Myers Park High School is a relatively good high school.

1. Does anyone have any input on this high school in particular?

2. Are the elementary schools in this district on an even level with the high school?

Myers Park H.S.is considered one of the best in the area. They ahave an exceptionally good IB program which equals those found in the Independent schools. Likewise the elementary schools in this feeder area are very good. Remember that there are a number of magnet schools that you family can apply for for next year (2008-2009). I have a number of friends whose children have switched to Myers park IB progra after many years in an independent school. These families felt that the public schools offered more variety and exposure to a larger society and were, of course, less expensive.
