Computer models are predicting the potential for a huge huge rain event. If you don't follow Brad Panovich on Facebook or twitter you should. Some of the rain amounts the models are showing are insane. If we get any wind, there will be a lot fallen trees, since the soil is so wet from last weekends deluge.
IMO, when these TeeVee teleprompter monkeys go on and on about a weather event, it usually turns out to be a big deal about nothing. There's been a couple of inches of rain here overnight. A lot of water, a few downed trees, but Noah's Flood it isn't. Last night WCCB reporter went on about "puddles" forming in the road. LOL! So this morning.......
WSOC, WCNC, didn't even sign on with news until 6am.
WCCB has no news.
WJZY is running nonsense about 18" floods being able to carry off cars.
All four stations have pre-empted all their normally scheduled news for the rest of the day for football.
It's been my experience the worst events to hit Charlotte are the ones they don't tell you about.

I've been in Hilton Head since Thursday morning, we've seen a little rain but I have played tennis morning afternoon on clay all three days so no worries here...

I couldn't agree more... there's some line between being oblivious and being an alarmist. That person is your classic A+ alarmist. In between is some level of prep should it end up being an epic rainmaggedon - that's where most of us fall, especially in this age of instant media.

Yeah, mostly mist & an occasional burst of maybe five minutes of showers in Kings Mountain. We did actually have more showers overnight & this morning. If we'd actually had rain, like they kept saying, my front yard would be a puddle. Nada.
We had a lot of rain here with a normally dry creek bed completely filled and flowing out into my yard and a neighbors yard so I had to dig a trench first thing this morning, wasn't a fan of that, but I drank my milk and ate my loaf bread and soldiered on.
I also had my gazing ball blown about 30 ft from where it normally resides. I will rebuild though.
Close to 4 inches near Berewick. It usually seems like there is a dome over this neighbrhood eith as little rain as we get. Seriously, it will pour buckets a mile from here and we are out in the driveway having a beer and not even knowing its raining a mile from here.
I'd be pickled tink if we got enough rain to bring the lake levels up enough so I can get my boat out of the water. Rain, yes Downed trees, NO!
When does the historic rain start? I want make sure i dont miss it.
It started yesterday morning just south of Charlotte in SC. Horrific flooding. Meteorology isn't an exact science. Be thankful you aren't getting what Charleston is getting.
