Casually looking in the Union County area from Monroe, all the way up to Charlotte (but probably not in the city proper).

In that general area, what are good school districts, and what ones must be avoided?

2 kids, 10 and 8. Thanks!

There is only 1 school district in Union County and 1 school district in Mecklenburg (Charlotte). Assignments can change every year. So if you move into either county, don't assume that it guarantees a spot in a certain schools as it doesn't. A lot of people, to their dismay, find out this isn't true.

In UC, the best public schools by far are Marvin Ridge, Weddington and Cuthbertson….the challenge is staying in those districts because of the clueless BOE. Find the school you like and buy a house as close to the HS of your choice as possible.

buying close to the school doesn't help..it's always a crap shoot where your kids will go - a lot more building going too- school system is over rated btw....plan on homeschooling or go private.
