My husband & I are going to be moving to North Carolina and are considering the Charlotte area. We do not want to be right in the city, not in the sticks either but near a lake (we have a boat). We want a reasonably priced neighborhood that has "things to do". Any suggestions on where to start looking?

Thanks future neighbors!

"Reasonably priced" is very subjective Can you give us a number?

Also, any ideas where in Charlotte your job locations would be? In this city it pays to try to live on the side of town you work on.

The office we are opening can be in any area. Reasonably priced means homes from 80,000 - 120,000 with a median income level of 50,000 - 100,000

Thanks!

I really hate to burst your bubble - you won't get much of any kind of house in that price range in Charlotte - ESPECIALLY anywhere near the lakes! Lake properties are all $600,000 an up. Even if you just wanted to live where you could easily drive to the lake you would only get maybe a townhouse in the $120's. The median home price in Charlotte is currently $230 +.

My suggestion, don't look to live in the Charlotte area. I would check out the town of Hickory or some of its surrounding communities since there is a lake there also. Best of luck!
