The Democratic National Convention host committee announced a dozen venues around the region for delegate receptions that organizers say will tell the story of Charlotte -- and spread out the wealth to local businesses.
The delegate welcome events on Sept. 2 will be at Bechtler Museum of Modern Art; Carolina Raptor Center; The Charlotte Museum of History; Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden; Discovery Place; Duke Mansion; Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture; Levine Museum of the New South; Mint Museum Uptown; NASCAR Hall of Fame, U.S. National Whitewater Center, and Wadsworth Estate.
There's also a party for 15,000 media members on Sept. 1 at the N.C. Music Factory.
Wadsworth Estate. I never heard of it before or seen it recommended on this forum. So I googled it and its in the historic Wesley Heights neighborhood. Interesting.
Maybe this neighborhood is being revitalized from the stigma of its past.
So I did more looking on their website and what a interesting group they have on their social gatherings page. The Wadsworth Estate (http://wadsworthestate.com/socialevents.html - broken link)
This gotta be a halloween gathering.. I hope
Back to the list. I think the places outside of the Uptown area just seem like a stretch in time they will be here.
LOL. Okay. I never heard of the Wadsworth Estate, either. And I found the Raptor Center kinda curious, but I was so glad to see that money is being pumped into the area . . . really happy to see the revenue going into the community, in these tough times.
All in all a pretty round list... if anything keeps the protesters spread out.
