Hi, I'm planning a move to NC, thinking about Charlotte or Raleigh... Single parent with two children, teacher, mid 30's. Which would be better (easier for transition, employment, housing)?

I love internet foruming.

so, there's housing in both locations, there's employment (or lack of) in both locations, there's single parents in both locations, there's schools in both locations, they're not that far away from each other geographically, so, maybe you can give us more specifics on what would make one better for you over the other?

Focus on finding the job first.
Then make everything else work around that.

fwiw... this would be true just about everywhere not just NC.

or you could just give an opinion on which place you think is an easier transition for a single parent with 2 kids, in her 30's, teacher

I hear Raleigh is better for schools and family life but I prefer Charlotte for the sports and city vibe.

Teaching is difficult for landing a job unless you teach science or math. I gave up trying. Call the school board of both cities before deciding.

Transition from what?

Better to find a job first, then look for housing near where you'll work.

FYI, average 10% unemployment rate in the Charlotte area.

Well.....Raleigh would be closer to Morehead City/Atlantic Beach and the fishing therein, also the Raleigh, chapel Hill, Mebane, Burlington, Durham area has better schools.
