Can anybody offer location advice (485&south) ... for a new "upscale" italian restaurant? It's pretty high on my list of things to do once I get down there. I am connected to a chef in a very famous restaurant in manhattan that would make the jump in the right spot. But the location needs to be PERFECT!

Campania on Rea Rd. in Piper Glen - excellent food and atmosphere.
Heard alot about Villa Antonia in Ballantyne and went there once and don't think I'll go back. Definitely not upscale and definitely nothing special. I hate getting the feeling I could cook what they serve in a restaurant to me for beacoup $$$.
well I know for friday night with the kids we are going to go to maggianos...now Im still deciding where to go on sat night without the kids... and since there are NO kids my uncle requested UPSCALE...yippie..
So, Ritz-Carlton's parent company owns Waffle House and Longhorn owns Sullivan's. Does not mean Maggiano's isn't good just because it is owned by the holding company that also owns Chilis...

Did I say Maggiano's was bad? Some people would just prfer to eat 'real' Italian food and not something that was designed in a corporate office, which was the reason for my post. I like Maggiano's, it's good, but is far from authentic.
Well, considering the south is not a hotbed for italian immigrants, we do OK in the restaurant department anyway.
Yep, and a big part of that is the company I work for which is major corporation too. But it's good though, mostly. Definitely good for Charlotte.
