Hello everybody,

I will be visiting Charlotte tomorrow thru Saturday for an interview. I will be staying at a hotel near 77 and 485 (southside). Don't have a car or anything, will have to travel by taxi I guess?

I think I may only have a total of about 3-4 hours tomorrow (3-7ish) to check out the city. I don't know if I will have any time on Friday (that's an all day interview) and then Saturday my flight leaves at 12:30, so basically no time to do anything.

What should I check out while I am in (from what I've heard and read) this beautiful city? Any recommendations on some great BBQ (The college town I am currently in has one over-priced, poor quality BBQ) places?

Anything I should be aware of? This is really the first time that I am travelling alone.

Any advice / tips on what to do for those few short hours would be great.

Thanks in advance,
Zach

the weather should be PERFECT for whatever you do.
Hit up Mac's Speedshop for BBQ. There are 2 locations in town but the S.Blvd location is livelier and closer in to town. Also, the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament is uptown in the arena. UNC & Duke (2 of NC's biggest college rivals) are playing Friday. So, uptown will have a tremendous party atmosphere. You could park free at one of the Lynx light rail stations along S. Blvd and take a ride into Southend for lunch or dinner. Enjoy your stay.

Hey there Zach and welcome to Charlotte

On that end of things you'd want to have some great barbeque at Mac's Speed Shop on South Blvd in the "Southend" area of the city. Their brisket is my all time favorite.

From there you could walk a few blocks and pick up the light rail to head into uptown. You can't get lost because the line ends in uptown Just get off and walk around to see what interests you.

It would be easy to catch a cab when you are done to get back to your hotel.

Good luck on the interview!

The St. Patrick's Day Festival is this weekend too - Annual St Patrick's Day Parade & Charlotte Goes Green Festival But it looks like you may miss it. But a lot of the bars downtown will be celebrating that on Friday too.

If you end up having time, have a cab take you through Myers Park, maybe down Queens Road or through Eastover. The cherry trees & tulip magnolias are SO beautiful right now... you picked a lovely time to come to Charlotte!
