I am looking for the best place to buy some new tires. I dont need them mounted or balanced and all that. I just need the cheapest "out the door price" Im just looking for standard car tires . I have been getting them from Pep Boys for years but wonder if there may be a better place. Thanks

The only place in Charlotte that I have not gotten an "out of round" tire is Griffin Brothers.

I second this recomendation. I have bought 3 sets of tires here and you can read reviews on tires, etc. on website There is no tax so it offsets shipping. Tirerack posts the dealers in your area w/prearranged install fees. The last set of tires I bought the Goodyeer dealer(Stonecrest) matched the Tirerack price.

I vote Tire Rack as well, execpt think twice about the road hazard packages. Depending on the overall price of the tires, I figured on each of my last 2 purchases for tires that were about $100 a piece, that at $25 per tire, I would have to have 4 or 5 tire incidents per vehicle for the cost of the package to pay off (if you can get a flat fixed for $25). It would only pay to have the tire damaged so bad it would need to be replaced.

If you know what you're looking for Ebay can offer some great deals. I've matched existing tires and also bought entire sets. Most recently I bought a pair for my car that were selling for around $225 a piece locally. I paid $200 for the pair, shipped, brand new with the stickers on and manufactured 3 months earlier.
