Hi, my family and I are relocating to Charleston WV for my husbands job. We are looking to live outside the city (have already been looking into Scott Depot area). Does anyone have any other suggestions on where move to? Would like to be within 30 min of the city and are looking to rent for a year then buy. Also looking to be in a good school sytem.
Are the local papers online to be able to look for rentals?
What is your price range for a house? I ask because the prices vary greatly in the Metro area from neighborhood to neighborhood. For instance, a 1,500 sq ft house in Teays Valley is going to cost a lot more than a 1,500 square foot house on Charleston's west side.

4Fam--I recently relocated to this area (a little over a year ago). We weren't in the market for a rental, so I have very little knowledge in that sense. After looking at several homes for sale in the Teays Valley area, we decided to build in a small town called Hurricane (which, for all intents & purposes, is located in Teays Valley). For a family environment, we simply could not be happier. It truly is a small community, but has all of the necessary conveniences (Kroger, Wal-Mart, fast food, gas, pharmacy, day care, schools, etc.). Additionally, we're equidistant to "metropolises" in Charleston and Huntington. I'd encourage you to strongly consider TV (Scott Depot, Winfield, Hurricane, and Milton). We used a local builder who also resides in the neighborhood:Dynamic Construction - Home & Welcome. He builds / sells everything from single-family homes to luxury 4,000+ square-foot mansions. Also, I am aware that he was recently constructing rental units / condos in the area, but don't have more information on them. I see that he has a rental section on the website, so that could prove useful. The websites don't do his work justice. If you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact me and welcome to WV!
