Kanawha eyes alternate sites for proposed Walmart * - News - The Charleston Gazette - West Virginia News and Sports -

Kanawha officials turned down an offer by Walmart to build a new store at Coonskin Park recently, and now other possible locations are being discussed. If build, it would be the Charleston areas 5th store (Kanawha Counties 4th).

They made a good decision turning them down. They need to turn them down in all locations.

Walmart is a dumping ground for poorly made Chinese goods. It destroys american jobs and replaces them with low wage service jobs where the employees are forced on government services. It forces people to shop their by destroying all other stores. It is a cancer on this nation.

It is time for WV and this country to dismantle this beast.

I agree with most of this. Wal-Mart doesn't support a diverse economy.

I do think there should be a Walmart somewhere between Ripley and downtown Charleston. We have Walmarts at Southridge, Cross Lanes, Ripley, and Quincy but there is a big gap around the city of Charleston and the Sissonville area where there is no Walmart even though the population is large enough to support one. Yes, Walmart uses mostly Chinese goods but so does every other store out there anyway.

I disagree with Coonskin Park though because parkland should be preserved and not developed.

It is more than Chinese goods.

They pay such bad wages that most employees go on public welfare. So basically the state, in this case the people of WV, need to subsidize their employees because Walmart doesnt pay them enough. It isnt like Walmart is struggling they make tens of net profit but none of it goes to the people who make it work it all goes to the Waltons and the big investors while the public pays for their poor wages. It also puts good companies out of business.

Anyway every Walmart cost taxpayers $1,000,000 annually to cover their log wages. They are a terrible company who race to the bottom and cut every corner. They dont need to do this, but they are greedy.
