The South Carleston Technology Park has seen alot of activity over the last year, and its new director has big plans. Renovations to two of the major buildings, and construction of another one.

Director has big plans for Tech Park* - News - The Charleston Gazette - West Virginia News and Sports -

This is just more great news, as the Tech Park could be a major player in research and innovation is our region. The facilities are all be updated, and the renovation to two of the massive labratories could attract new business to the city. There is alreadt talk of a Thai company building there too. Just another sign of our regions strength.

Sounds great! Charleston really seems to be turning around and headed down the right track. I like how he calls for new, modern housing to be built in the vicinity. Seems like the people that have been coming on this forum with Charleston relocation questions have been running into that very same problem.

I'd say that we could use a couple of quality rental developments in the area. All of the developers are building houses, when the population is asking for rentals.

It is amazing how much Charleston has changed in the last 5 years. I used to get excited about stupid stuff like Gomart getting a new sign or something. LOL Now I can get excited about new high end hotels, office buildings, reserach parks, and thousands of new jobs!

Thousands of new jobs would be impressive. Which company is putting thousands of new jobs there?

The combination of new business, expanding business, and the thought of new business all in one. The Proposed plant at Bayer would add several hundred, and Dow has talked about hiring a few hundred. The Tech park has plans on leasing to research firms like IBM, which could add a few hundred. I'd say all of the business that has been anounced over the past year amounts to over a thousand. We have had alot of poissitive news recently, and are looking ahead here.
