We are heading down (finally!!) to start apartment-hunting at the end of the week...Please let it warm up...That said, does anyone out there play senior hockey at the N. Charleston rink? How are the leagues/players and conditions at the rink?

I do! I'm a transplant from NY and have been skating there for over 10yrs. The league is @ the Carolina Ice Palace. Dual sheets, very nice ice surface. Even in August! They do a top notch job maintaining the ice. Facility is 2nd to none. Bar/Restaurant - Full proshop - Concessions stands - Viewing area with couches for those who don't like the cold

They have leagues from:

Learn to Play > self explanatory

C league > Graduates from the Learn to Play

B league > Pretty good skaters, its a mix of some better C and some not so good A league

A League > Ex stingrays, very good B players, Ex pro's, even a few NHL'ers

Over 35 League > Great beer league

Let me know if you need more info

Thanks...sounds awesome. When my brother moved to Huntsville AL from Montreal, he thought that he would smoke the local A League...then he discovered that people who play A hockey in the South are almost always former minor league players!! Beer League or B league (if I play enough summer hockey and get into real shape) sounds about my speed. Hope to see you on the ice when my wife and are settled in in August.
