I am going to try and have a fund day with the grand kids. No water parks.
Suggest away.
We are in Goose Creek, but can go any where in Charleston area.

Children's Museum downtown, followed by a dip in the fountains at Waterfront Park. Off to Pelican's Snowballs for a treat and I'm sure they'd be exhausted after all that.

We just had a similar day with our 8 & 6 year olds but we rode our bikes thru Charlestowne Landing https://southcarolinaparks.com/charles-towne-landing instead of visiting the museum. Actually saw a large alligator sunning himself just off our paved path. There's a replica of a galleon ship and old fort remnants they can explore . And the "animal forest" is a small zoo that's just enough for them at that age.
The cost for entrance was us buying a senior state park pass for $37. Everyone in the car comes in for that price. And you can use it for a year all over the state - including beach parks. Very good value.

The fountain downtown was a hit. And Pelican's topped it all.

We're thinking of Cypress Gardens for our next outing with the kids. Plenty of gators last time we were there. The park rangers say you're safe as long as there's turtles to be seen -- gators prefer them over us!

Some great ideas. Cypress Gardens looks good, and there is a Pelicans on 52 after that.. My daughter just needs a break, so I am going to have fun with them and tire them out before they get home..
And Waterfront Park, Mt P side ? We shall see, depends on what time we get out of the house.

I'm a big fan of the riverfront park and Pitt Street Park, not so much Shem Creek.

Can you rent a canoe that will fit you and both kids? That would be fun.

OK, let's get some of these waterfront parks straight: there's 3 distinct parks going on in this discussion so far.
Downtown on the Charleston peninsula https://www.charlestonparksconservan...aterfront-park .
Mount Pleasant waterfront park https://www.ccprc.com/1171/Mount-Pleasant-Pier .
North Charleston riverfront park https://charleston.com/riverfront-park .

As for this thread, and with youngsters, each park has it's appeal. Downtown has the fountains which many kids love to run through & is refreshing in our heat.
Mt P has a great playground for little ones. And then just the pier itself which may or not be appealing.
North Charleston has the breezes on the pier walks & sculptures for climbing.
Do go look online & see what works for your family. Hope this delineates one from the other.
