I'm in North Charleston using Comcast. It has been 7 days and nothing bad so far. I got their $30/month for a year deal for the 12mb/2mb dealio. I don't have cable tv or anything.
I use Home Telephone which primarily serves the Moncks Corner region. They resell bandwidth from Spirit Telecom.
It's kinda "meh". Their prices for their packages are a bit high. They have a 768Kbps service for $23/mo, 1Mbps for $35/mo, 3Mbps for $45/mo (this is the package I have), 6Mbps for $55/mo, or 10Mbps for $65/mo.
From the times I've called them too, to get DSL you also have to purchase a landline from them (which stinks - I never use it). My service is kinda iffy. I'll get random disconnects every few hours. For web surfing it's no big deal. If you happen to be clicking on a page for the few seconds it's out then just refresh and it'll come up on the second try. For online gaming though it's a real headache. Nothing more aggravating than getting knocked out of your game in the middle of it.
What I do like is that they have no usage caps or anything of the like. Unlike most of the providers who seem to be putting limits on how much you transfer, Home/Spirit do seem to give you all the pipe you pay for.
Overall though, they're pretty much the only game in town anyways. It's either them or dial-up, so I keep using them regardless .
I heard some bad things about knology from guys from work.
Either way i got Time warner, $34.99 for internet for 12 months, then I think its $45, was a deal black friday weekend.
Service so far is good. They really let you know about the appointment. I believe I got 6 phone calls, and 4 emails. I think there was a glitch and I got double messages.
We use AT&T for our Internet, and it isn't quite as fast as Comcast was, but it serves our purpose. We don't have cable, since the only TV we watch is movies, so I can't really comment on their programming.
That's good to hear. I will be moving to Charleston, SC in a couple of months, and will have to choose a provider then. Just reading on the internet, I have read both good and bad reviews.
