Child stars didnt become grown stars (actress, Gary Cole, Coleman)

I dont understand that Shirley Temple and Margaret O Brien didnt become grown up stars.
they were very good actress.

Gary Coleman...he never grew...period.

Shirley Temple was a child star and I would imagine that is very hard for any child. She was lucky enough to not turn out like so many child starts do, fighting drug and/or alcohol abuse, often bankrupt, and messed up in general. I would guess Shirley Temple had good parents that helped guide her.

Some child stars got by because they were cute or precocious, but couldn't act their way out of a paper bag (the Olsen twins). Some cute kids don't always become cute teens or adults. (Gary Coleman). Some choose to go in a different direction entirely (Danica McKellar). Some just can't make the transition and there doesn't appear to be any reason why (Miko Hughes).
