I'd love to see the life story of Charles Durning made into film. What he went through in WW2 was horrible and yet he went on to star in stage and screen while still supporting his fellow veterans.
I'd like to see a movie about the late Phil Hartman (Saturday Night Live, etc.) I was acquainted with him when I lived in Los Angeles, and I think the story of his life and tragic death (murdered by his wife) would be a very interesting story to tell.
I'm surprised we haven't seen one on W.C. fields, the 3 stooges( certainly not a PC term these days), Clark Gable, Liberace, troy donahue, Elton John, now I guess we can wait for one on MJ....

None...I'm tired of Hollywood celebrating itself all the time.
That's pretty much how I feel except that I really don't want/need to know 'more' about almost anyone that might be chosen to have a book or film made of his/her life.

There was a TV movie about the 3 Stooges staring Michael Chickless (sp?) of "The Shield" and "The Fantastic Four" as Curley and the guy from Tremors who was Kevin Bacon's partner as Moe. Moe, Curley, and Shemp were brothers in real life. Curley suffered a stroke and died not long after. Shemp was asked to take his place. Shemp suffered severe stage freight and had a heart attack. After his death they stopped the show. The studio tried to keep secret how popular their shorts were so they could continue to pay them very little and no movies which would have cost the studio more to make. Later years the studio execs changed and they offered to do more with the 3 stooges so they held auditions for a Curley charactor which is where Curley Joe came in. Larry's wife in the movie revealed that he'd been slapped so often that he had callouses on his face.
The Farrelly bros are making a 3 Stooges movie - Sean Penn was supposed to play Larry, but he dropped out. Benicio Del Toro is still scheduled to play Moe, and Jim Carey is to be Curly.
My vote for the thread would be Montgomery Clift. I have read bits and pieces about his life in other celebriteis' biographies, like Shelley Winters' and Marilyn Monroes', for instance - his life is frequently referred to as pre-accident or post-accident. Marilyn said he was the only person she knew who was in worse shape than she was...that says a lot.
