ok here is the deal, I can see Otto trying to con me for that damn fancy feast and I cant give in, it makes him sick at both ends. I am using what the vet gave me and dry food. He does not like what the vet gave me. Its wet food but very dry lot of fiber in it. He just kinda looks at me and crys. So the crying is starting again only because the little devil wants the damn Fancy Feast. So here are my questions:
1. How often do I feed this guy and how much. These cans are bigger not the fancy feast size. How about dry food????
2. How do I get Otto to eat it??? He is crying and does not like it. Can I add a little water to it??
HELP!!!! I can see this pattern starting again and I NEED HELP!!!
Feed him as much as he will eat in, lets say 30 min. Give or take...then pick it up. Feed him twice a day...and yes, you can add water. But no fancy feast! If you have some...throw it away (or donate it). You can give him some dry...I free feed dry...but make sure it is a quality food!
You can always call the vet for more advice. But most cats will eventually give up when they get hungry enough! Add some water to soften the dry food as he may not like the crunchiness.

I love you!!! Well he is eating what the vet gave me. By the way Shelby your great!!! If you ever need anything let me know. Marilyn
Have you tried the kitten milk supplement? I was also thinking that you can try buying and growing some kitty grass to help with digestion. Sometimes you can also sprinkle a very small amount of fish juice or oil to entice towards the dry, although I would be careful with it as it has a tendency to make an animal "loose." But it sounds like he misses the meaty diet he was used to, and you just have to wait until he gets used to the dry (it reminds me of trying to break a kid of eating junk food *LOL*)
I'd recommend feeding him as much as recommended on the package of the dry food. Put it in a cup and divide it trhoughout the day. That's what I do. I also give her something extra twice a week. Then I give her half of her daily portion of dry food and for example half a can of tuna.
Be careful for your kitty not to become overweight when he does start to eat as well. You have to be able to feel his spine undeneath some layer of flesh.
When my lady seems picky, I just tell her that "if you really are hungry, you'll eat what you are given", hehe. Do pick high quality dry food though.
Otto is also eating a wet food but it is special from the vet, its a lot less watery than that damn Fancy feast, vet said it has alot of fiber.
So Otto is getting both wet and I leave dry out.
Now for the good news, HE IS EATING IT!!!!!!!! This is a miracle, stool is hard, stomach is not going non stop and its not coming out of both ends constantly. His problem was that Fancy Feast. Hard to believe that one kind of food can make him soooo sick and exicted and off balance. I honestly could have saved myself a ton of money but I had so many cats who never had a problem.
He was great! Purring and cuddling a little vocal but overall things are so much better! No loose dumps all over. This is so great. He is the best. I truely am thrilled I got him back and thank god for a vet how was not so quick to put him down. This may just work out perfect.
Thanks all UNTIL THE NEXT PROBLEM!!!!
