2007. This was one of the "invasion cats" (I'll get around to telling that story sometime). Unfortunately, he had to be put down a few months after this photo, due to a terminal cancer he was afflicted with.
Topaz (the cat) and Chloe (the dog), circa 1987. Chloe died in 1990.. Topaz last until 2003.
Topaz and Smokey.. I'm thinking maybe 1991 or 1992. We first got Smokey when I noticed her laying in the middle of the road, and almost got ran over by a dump truck rescuing her. She had to be put under in 1997... specifically, the night before Thanksgiving.
Smokey... I want to say 94...
1987, with Topaz. I remember that shirt, too... it was one of those that you got to color in every time you wore it, then it would wash out when it got washed... I loved that shirt!
Oh kitties from our past...especially our childhood kitties...are so dear. I remember my very first cat. I guess I was about 3. Her name was Lucille and we had a dog named Henry too. They loved each other and slept all cuddled up. I remember watching them chase each other all over the house. Now my kids remember their childhood kitties. Sweet memories.
I've always considered myself more of a dog person, yet the number of cats I've had surpasses the number of dogs I've had. By the way, the first photo (well, first two, since the link for the second photo apparently failed to copy) was taken in Garner, NC.

I always find that funny, my husband keeps saying and saying he's a dog person and not a cat person. But he has loved every cat he's ever known. He keeps saying that our cat is somehow different from other cats and distinct and particular, not a "normal" cat... But seriously although I adore my Nimbus, he really doesn't do anything that I consider un-cat-like. I don't get it. Why not just say ya like animals?
Anyhoo. Noticed your geography, I have family branches (Dements and Hunts) from that part of NC, and I live in Colorado these days now, too. Small world, eh?
Oh, yeah.. especially when you consider that I lived in Co. Springs for three years and change until this past March, when I moved to Broomfield. The first of my two current cats came from the Humane Society on 8th Street.
