Hard to beleive it has been a year already, but my wife and I are celebrating one year with Glinda today! She is our first cat and we have learned a lot since we brought her home from the rescue last year. I'll be honest, the first few months were rough. We were so new to it all and Glinda needed time to adjust - there was a lot of biting to deal with. But we gave her time and made sure to invest in interactive play several times each day and over time we noticed big changes. She is a sweet cat and very loving. She'll still give us the occasional nip on the foot if she hasn't gotten enough play, but that is pretty rare now. Still working on picking her up. She is not a fan of that - maybe she never will be and that is ok. But she loves to be near us and still follows us from room to room all day and enjoys resting in our laps while we watch TV. Welcoming Glinda into our family has been very rewarding and I am glad that we can provide her a safe and loving home for many years to come. Thanks for all the advice and hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

This brought tears to my eyes, both your story and your picture. God love her, and God Bless You and your wife for taking her in and NOT giving her back when the going was rough. Especially as a first time cat parent, you didn't know what to expect and still kept her and love her. Merry Christmas!
Happy Anniversary, and thank you so much for adopting a sweet homeless kitty.
Yes, it takes patience and more patience, sometimes. Sometimes they fit right in. But giving and receiving love is such a rewarding thing to do. Congratulations on becoming new cat owners.
Glinda is one gorgeous cat! It can take time for a cat to settle in. My Sophie would not sit on my lap for 10 years; when I got on the bed she would just jump off. Now she is my constant companion. She comes in when I am on the computer, fusses at me and then waits on my chair for me; she loves to get under the afghan with me while I nap; she's 17 now so there are little stools by her favorite spots. She still gnaws on my fingers sometimes, but that's OK. (She still hasn't figured out how to push a door open with her nose, but that's OK.)
