Does anyone have any tips on how to remove regurgitated canned food from corrugated cardboard scratchers? These things don't really like water and the food goes into the holes.

Throw it away. It's the only thing to do. I keep multiple cardboard scratchers of various types, with always a couple of new back ups in the closet.

I would just let it dry and then vacuum it.

I agree. There was one time when something yucky got on one and it was a small enough patch I just cut it out. But I wouldn't try to clean it.

Thanks! A new one is on the way. Kitty has a couple of smaller ones but the accident happened on the big lounger and he loves to sleep on it.

Oh no, you mean it was one of those big expensive designer ones?

I've always been tempted to buy those but I don't for this reason. Both my cats use cardboard scratchers heavily, and by process of elimination I've found the ones they like. Some are too cheaply made to bother with, but there are some good ones out there that can hold up to even my two dedicated cardboard shredders (both teeth and claws)!

Yes, this one.

He loves sleeping on it and the old one lasted for four years, so we are ok getting a new one.

I never thought that I would want my cat to regurgitate on my comforter but it might be the easiest thing to clean. Luckily it doesn't happen very often, otherwise we would be worried about the cat's health.

I've got four different kinds of cardboard scratchers: a long flat rectangular one, one with two upturned ends, and two different recumbent fish-shaped ones. My Russian Blue cat really likes to sleep curled up on the fishy scratchers; she just fits between the head and the tail and looks so cute. She also tears the heck out of those in particular!
