Seriously, that head down position isn't all that uncommon. I've seen my cats do that a lot over the years. My old girl Angel still does it on occasion. But she's also the one who sleeps with her body right-side-up, and her head twisted around so it's upside down. I used to tell my wife that she does that because her dreams are upside down, and that's the only way she can see them right-side-up.
Thanks for the replies. Glad that others have seen this with their cats. When I was growing up, we always had cats. Don't remember any of them sleeping this way. Like I mentioned in my original post, his happiness is what matters.
Pretty kitty. Probably content. My current cat will sometimes sleep like that face-down. For the cats I had earlier, I don't recall them sleeping in that position at all.
He's definitely depressed. You need to let me Katnap him!
