My older cats do that as well. They'd rather fling all the litter out of the box rather than cover up their poop >.<

We have one who occasionally leaves poop about half covered. We don't know who the culprit is since we have 3 cats. The boycat Zebulon doesn't cover his urine but that doesn't smell like a half buried turd.

Not all cats cover their leavings. Mine do, but in the process they kick half the litter out of the boxes.

Is Ella an only cat? Some cats don't cover as a dominance my Bridge Angel boy was Top Cat and he never covered.

Our current Top Cat, a female, digs and digs and kicks and kicks and scratches the sides of the litter box, all for many minutes. After she's done with all that she has a very nice tall pile of litter, but it is usually no where near the poop.

But then, she's always done it that way, even when she was only Second Cat.

My Gracie does this too. She will dig and dig but doesn't cover her poop. I have to qualify that though. I had a neighbor cat who would dash into my apartment the minute I opened the door. He liked to steal Gracie's food. Both Gracie and I had quite enough of him and tried to convince him we were not open for feline visitors.

The problem was sloved when the neighbors and the cat moved away. But I did notice that while he was coming into our place, Gracie began to hide her poop in her litter box. After he was no longer coming in, she went back to not covering it.

Some cats don't cover their poop.

Some people don't flush their poop.

Now, could someone tell me again how cats aren't just like people?

You can trust a cat.

I've had both buriers and non-buriers. It's probably not the best combination when one has both a non'burier and a dog who thinks the litter box is a snack bar.

Milk Bone really does freshen the breath.

We have a name for this situation in our house. It's called "the dump and jump".
