I was just in the kitchen about to give the cats their midday snack. They were milling around or waiting in their accustomed Meal Spots, except for the kitten who still thinks she has to jump up on the counter and supervise proceedings.
Suddenly I remembered it was nail trim day and I thought, since they are all right here, might as well get it done. I opened the drawer, took out the clippers and turned around to see who would go first.
If I want to clear the room, I just have to rustle a plastic bag. They hate that. Scaredy cats.
Mine haven't figured to bolt when they see the clippers yet. I keep them in a basket with the toothbrushes, toothpaste (mmmmmm poultry flavor) and brush, all three of which they like. By the time they see the clippers, it's too late. Mwah ha ha ha ha.
I pin them in the back of the big easy chair with my behind, grab their little paws and clip away before they know what's hit 'em.
I've noticed that if I blow across a piece of cellophane, making it shriek, any cat will will head for the hills. They just hate that sound! Apologies to the cat(s) are in order afterwards.

Some of mine don't like that either. I'm careful about putting plastic bags away in a quiet non threatening way. I don't like to scare my cats.
I actually gave them a break on the teeth brushing that night, since they'd had hair ball remedy and got their nails snipped. I figured they'd been such good sports I'd let them coast for the rest of the evening.
So funny about the plastic bags. Mine loves plastic bags, not bothered at all by the sounds and likes to lie down on them or lick them.
Jack climbs in every plastic bag and insists on being carried around and swung around in a circle. If I leave the room, he will jump out of the bag, follow me to my destination and repeat until I go somewhere that he can't find a bog or a box.
My cats do have one rattley plastic bag they like to play in, it's a big shopping bag from some fancy store, but with the exception of the kitten, they don't like the grocery bags.
For those who have cats who do like them, be sure to cut the handles. I know there are many videos of cats tearing frantically through a house with a bag wrapped around his or her neck while the human laughs hysterically.
I do not think this is funny. It is dangerous for one thing, and what is so funny about a terrified cat? It really angers me when I see these things.
I had that that happen years ago. I was in hysterics by the time I caught her. It's very dangerous and you're right, some people think it's funny. It's not.
