If you used frontline, revolution or advantage products, don't do anything. The greasiness will go away on it's own in a couple days.
If you used an OTC product such as Hartz, Seargents, Bio Spot and so forth, wash as much of the stuff off as you can immediately, watch your cat closely and be prepared to call the ER vet if you see anything wrong.
We used Hartz, and no side effects, just the greasiness. Still crazy and mis-behaving as usual
Hartz is known to kill cats. Please wash it off, and never ever use it again. You may have gotten lucky once, or your cat has rather but don't risk it again. though it's only been a little while, so she may still have a reaction
Hartz Syndrome - Hartz Flea & Tick products can HARM OR KILL your loved one.: Meet the Hartz President who doesn't care about your pet. (http://www.hartzsyndrome.org/2008/09/meet-hartz-president-who-doesnt-care.html - broken link)
Wal-Mart now has Pet Armor so get that instead. It is pretty affordable and as far as we can see, identical to Frontline Plus. Definitely time to give your cat a bath and start over.
Wash the Hartz of but DON'T use anything else on the pet for the next 30 days, unless you get vet approval to do so. I would not use ANY OTC products on your cat. Frontline no longer has the patent on Fipronil but that does not mean the knock off product is safe and her system is already over burdened by the poisons in the Hartz.

All the flea treatments are OTC now. In fact, I don't know of one that you have to get from your vet. Most are now available at Petsmart and PETCO. If not, they are all available online without a prescription or any consent from a Vet. If only that was the same with Heartworm Preventative.
