Does anyone of you have ever been in Whistler,BC?
I am interested in knowing something about this resort. If I search for information on the Internet, all I get is information for tourists, it seems like if it's a place for tourists and nobody lives there. Is that true?

The fact is that I want to go to USA or Canada to study English, (I am from Spain) and one possibility is to go to Whistler, and even I love nature, I don't know if it's a good idea to go there. I don't know if there are cinemas, shops, cafes, restaurants, etc., or if it's just a resort with few people who live there through out the year.
Beside skiing, are there more activities to do?

I would like to know if it's a good place to go to study English because if people there are tourists and other students like me, then probably I will not be really in touch with native american people, you know what I mean?

Well, thank you very much!
I am looking forward your replies :P

Wikipedia has some information. I've never been there but it looks like a little under 10,000 people live there.

People live there. There are schools there, grocery stores, community centers, art galleries, shopping, etc. It's a community of people although almost everyone that lives there is somehow involved in outdoor recreation/tourism. I don't know if I'd live there if you're hoping for a large urban experience, but Vancouver is always a 2 hour drive away.
