Just wanted to put this out there .... i was wondering if there were any american trades people reading this who have taken the steps and are working in alberta ? I have been doing some home work and he process seems fairly straight forward , A job offer from a company who has an E-LMO for the job being offered and them stopping at the border on the way with the paper work and enter canada with a temporary work visa.
i have had some responses from companies but none seems to have taken this avenue before , is there some thing I'm missing??? or things I should be aware of? any advice would be appreciated.
thanks
I am not a trades person but I entered Canada with a Temporary Work Permit. The process is relatively simple but takes some time. For many people, the hardest part is finding an employer willing to make a formal job offer and go through the process a months before a foreign worker can get a work permit.
I am not a tradesperson but have family members who are. I can tell you right now that there is a huge shortage of tradespeople, both British Columbia And Alberta are looking for tradespeople. THere are special government programs that are speeding up the paper work process in order to fill the need. One source would be go to the website for numbers or contact info. One ministry of government responsible for this is Ministry of Economic Development. This site is specific to internationally trained tradespeople and professionals. check it out and all the best to you. Good for you for exploring new avenues. regards
