Uhhh, yeah. There's plenty of first-round talent that leaves the NFL to make considerably less money in the CFL. Seriously.... Where do people come up with this stuff?
The only reason a 1st round NFL pick doesn't make the roster is either due to being unable to adjust to the advanced speed of the NFL or due to serious character issues. The jump from UCAA level football where there may be one or two superstars on a team to the pro league where everyone on the team is a superstar is enormous. Many of the players that have a difficult time adjusting come to the CFL where there isn't as much competition for players with their advanced skill sets. Some, like the Toronto Argonauts Chad Owens take very well to the Canadian game and stay here. Others like Joe Thiesmann and Doug Flutie head back down south the first chance they get. Still others like Ricky Williams come up here to keep their skill set up while under NFL suspension with the understanding they'll return to the NFL once their suspension is lifted.
The United States has created a system that starts in peewee leagues, continues into high school and then college to produce the most specialized football players in the world. Here in Canada, we do something similar with hockey. To insinuate that Canada produces (and subsequently manages to keep) the best professional football players in the world is as ludicrous as thinking that the southern states of the the US produce the world's best hockey players.
