I live in the US and I want to buy a small residential property in southeast Ontario. My budget is 100k Canadian dollars. Just to be clear about the general area I am looking at, see the pic attachment. I want to have a minimum of 2 bedroom/1 bathroom, a dry basement, no condo/hoa, and the house to be in liveable condition (I don't expect it to be cosmetically perfect but I don't want it to be falling apart. What towns should I be looking at for my particular budget?
I don't know what you can find up there for that, but you shouldn't rule out Windsor/Essex county.
I live in the northeast US. For now, I want to stick with the area I circled in red on the map. These other places you speak of are several more hours away.
Just so you know, there is no such area as "Southeast Ontario". The area west of Toronto is Southwestern Ontario. The area east of Toronto is Eastern Ontario. Your best bet in the area you circled would be Brantford or Simcoe.
I don't think $100K will get you more than a run down shack anywhere in Canada.
I was on remax today and I was looking at some places in the circled area that look like they could be a match. I don't expect it to be cosmetically perfect. I do expect to see plenty of stuff that spendy people would update/renovate in a heartbeat. However, I'm a very thrifty/utilitarian person, not a person who is all about style, image, and appeal. I am the type who will not replace something until it is 100% broken/useless.

I bought my house for 109K. 3 bedroom, brick to roof, 190x45 lot, central air, detached garage, no neighbours across the street except wildlife, great shape.

My point exactly. I only require a min of 2 bedrooms and I don't care if the plot of land is very small. I think 100k is very reasonable given that I'm not looking for a brand spankin new luxury suite.

Is going to work a factor? How is your immigration status?
I will keep those on the burner and consider them. I do not have any job lined up there and I have not even begun the immigration process (since I don't have a job to have grounds for permanent residency). It's kind of like a dog chasing it's tale, but what can I do?
