Hello I am a US citizen and want to move to Canada(Toronto) for a period of 1 year. I am not seeking to work or study there. Currently I am trying to figure out which applications to submit in order to have the ability:

]Rent an apartment
]Open a bank account
]Operate a motor vehicle

Will I be able to bring my own car and will I have to get Canadian driver license/insurance or will I be able to continue using American license/insurance

Thank you.

A visitor, who is allowed in Canada for six months, may extend his or her stay. You will need to submit an application to stay longer 30 days prior to the end of the six month period. Check it out:

Extend your stay in Canada as a visitor

If you'e not working or studying, why do you want to "live" in Toronto for only one year? It sounds as if you are actually just visiting for a year --the distinction may affect how you proceed with renting and dealing with the car.
