I am looking and wondering how one can acquire dual citizenship in Canada. Currently an American only. Any website links would be appreciated or personal experience.

Become a Canadian Permanent Resident, live in Canada for 3 years, apply for citizenship, swear the oath of allegiance.

You can keep your American citizenship if you do what tarp suggested: Become a permanent resident, physically be present in Canada for 1095 days, then apply for citizenship. There is no other way for anybody to become a Canadian citizen.

If it is only for convenience of travel between Canada/US, google for "NEXUS CARD".

I will look into that but does it have to be 1095 consecutive days or just 1095 days

It is 1095 days as a permanent resident (not a visitor) in the last 4 years - they don't have to be consecutive. The processing time of citizenship application is about 2 years these days.

I'm confused by that comment, why would dual citizenship (as opposed to American citizenship, or Canadian citizenship) make it any different to travel between Canada and the US?

The answer is pretty obvious: You've the right to enter, not just a privilege. And you don't need to explain to anybody where you are going, why and how long you will spend in any country.

Freedom of movement, to stay and to leave.

Just a few examples.
