Does anyone on here own a Arctic Fox Truck camper? Are they top heavy? I'm looking at a small truck camper that fits a 8 ft bed and the truck has to be a 3/4 ton.

These campers are built like a tank,

Arctic fox campers are very nice. We looked at them before we bought our last slide in then went to a TT
I know they are heavy.
If your going to put one in your 3/4 ton look at getting timbrens or air~lift bags for the rear alel and if you don't have oneallready a heavy duty sway bar.

If your pickup won't carry it, they make an excellent bumper pull travel trailer. Insulation and a good floor plan.

We have a Hallmark pop-up and just love it! It's not as amenetized as an Arctic Fox, but fully loaded it weighs in at 2,000 lbs. Since I go rough country this is a must! Right now I'm elk hunting, waiting out a snowstorm and the temps are 15 deg today and below zero tonight. I have 25 gal of water and a 30lb inboard propane tank and one 20lb spare and I'm good for about 5-6 days no problem!

I love Arctic Fox but you've got to have a big rig and don't plan on going too far off road, lol.

Very efficient use of space- bed lifts up to expose a full storage area:

Storage in the back by the door( pretty big)

I've slept in an Arctic Fox and they are awesome. Like a taj majal compared to this- but Hallmarks are solidly built, light and very, very comfy!

Looking at this one right now and also a 5th wheel Camper which is very heavy like around 16,000 pounds that takes a F-450 truck.

2004 Arctic Fox slide-in camper with slide out. Excellent condition. Garage kept. No wear or tear anywhere. Bath w/shower. Loaded. No smoking/ no pets. Needs 3/4 ton, 6 or 8 ft. box. Cost $24,000. new. A real steal at 9,500.

And a 5th wheeler,

2003 Arctic Fox; 2-Slides;Patio Awning; Refrigerator Elec/Gas; Gas Stove/Oven; Microwave; Sofabed & 2-Chairs; Booth Table/Bed; Queen Bed Full closet and extra storage; New 10 gal waterheater Elec/Gas. $13,000

There's a huge difference in a 5th wheel and t/c. Do you travel pavement to campsites or want to go a little farther out? Do you tow anything else like a boat?

For us it was an easy choice- t/c either four wheel, hallmark or outfitter mfgt's. You should focus on what you want to primarily do/see and choose from there.

If I didn't venture too far off road, i would choose an Arctic Fox t/c. That way I can tow my boat and camp in style!

I really wouldn't need a big truck because I would only use it for this camper and only on the highway. I could almost pay someone to move the 5th wheel and I plan on living in it mainly year around. One place I can park it at I have free electric.

I've never owned one, but Arctic Fox is generally considered one of the best-built campers on the market, be it TCs, TT, or 5ers. Are they top-heavy. Yes. All TCs are top-heavy. You can get away from that somewhat with pop-ups, but there's a lot of weight up high no matter what you choose. AF is probably one of the heaviest because they're so well-made.

If this must go on a 3/4-ton, I'd check their weights (dry and loaded) and the weight and GVWR of your truck very closely. I've had TCs on a 1/2-ton and on a couple 3/4-ton trucks. All the trucks had to be beefed up, but none really got beefed up enough. And none of the TCs were really heavy.

If you really want to stay away from a dually for some reason, you might get by with a SRW 1-ton truck and keep the TC light, but my choice would be at least a 1-ton dually for any self-contained TC that I'd want.
