I just got my renewel notice from the ca dmv. On my 90 Tbird my registration fees increased $14.00 to $68.00. Thats alot for a nearly 20 yr old car. I really hate the ca legislature & the DMV.

Back door tax. Instead of being brazen about it like Gray Davis was (he wanted to triple them if I recall correctly-which can be argued was the final catalyst for his removal), they are simply doing it incrementally on the sly and hope no one notices.

The registration on my 94' Astrovan went from $55 to $74 - that's a $19 increase.

The dmv was suppose to only increase the vehicle license fee and not registration fee. Look at the right side of your renewal notice where it says "fees". The license fee is just below registration fee. My nephews 2003 car is $56.00 registration (like mine) & $107.00 license fee. My license fee is $2.00. The state is up to their tricks & lying just like when they illegally imposed a $300.00 fee for all cars registering from out of state. My registration should of been $42.00 instead of 56.00 & license fee should of been 4.00 instead of 2.00. What a thieving state.

Well, I just got my renewal in the mail yesterday $190!! Can this be right? Last year was the first time I registered a car in CA. I brought it in from the east coast and with the smog check and first time registering a car in CA it was around $140, IIRC. I figured maybe it was high because I was a "first-timer"
But now $190 - jeez!! The car is nothing special - '05 Honda CRV.

Here's the breakout -

Registration Fee - $56
License Fee - $134

Wait until you do your TY 2009 state income taxes (assuming you are a producer and not a taker already).

Its right. The min registration fee is now $56.00. They sure are nailing people left & right on license fees. This is the most corrupt legislature in ca history. They only do whats in their best intrest & not the people who elected them in office. They should ALL be recalled incl govenor benedict arnold.

My nephews registration on his 2003 vw increased $100.00 from $70.00 to $170.00. He sure is upset & i dont blame him one bit. If i knew i wouldnt be hassled by the cops i would register my car out of state. They are on out of state plate patrol big time now. The highway patrol has a citizens snitch website. I DONT snitch !
