i recently read that California has the best Wine flats in the US. im thinking of buying a squat of land in remote California and starting my own wine business and calling my bottle of Wine "Havier".

i will not borrow underground though like a mole....my business will basically be growing Grapes and whatever else is needed to harvest quality wine and stomp them with my feet to make the ultimate batter...i will have a shed where i keep the barrels and i alone with hired help with bottle it ourselves and then put a special cork in the wine made out of redwood trees...

how much is land in rural California and will me not having a huge operation make "Havier" more rare and expensive..i want only the finest restuarunats to sell my wine so with the limited bottles i harvest i will hand pick the best.

thanks for any and all info!

Have you ever been a vintner before?
Have you ever been to California?
Have you ever managed a business?
How will you transport your wine?
Can you compete with Trader Joes?
Have you ever worked with the State of California government as a businessman?

Might be easier to go to Hollywood and become a movie star.

I've been wanting to grow some vines and make my own wines too, but I would want to join a club where other regular people make their own wines too. I think it would be cool to make something, and have a party where all your wine club friends, who have also made their own, bring it and everybody tries everyone elses wines. I was just talking to my husband about that 3 days ago when we passed the Temecula wineries on our way to San Diego.

Look for bottles of "Havier" selling for $2.69 at your local Grocery Outlet in the next decade.

Actually I have at least a dozen friends that make their own wine and some of them are going through the process to bring them to market.

As for the OP's method of production, you aren't going to get any consistency from your style, so you'll have maybe one good bottle out of a barrel if you're lucky (But you better drink it the first day you put it in the bottle). Oh by the way, There's a reason they don't make corks out of redwood trees.
