I take it you need a flying license for this though? That’s an endeavor that’s too expensive and time consuming for most people. My understanding is you need at least 250 hours of flying and dozens of flight instructor hours costing hundreds of dollars per hour.

When I took ground school. (instructors were Wilber & Orville) you needed 40 hours to acquire your private pilot's license. Of those 40 hours, 20 of those could be done on a simulator. Then, 3 touch & go's every 90 days...

But that was the absolute minimum. In no way did this keep your skillsets to be "proficient."

My friend that has A pilots license went to school and paid tens of thousands of dollars to go full time for several months. He could’ve stayed longer but decided to save some money and get hours flying 10 hours a week himself. He had to rent a plane and prove to the people he was renting from he was already proficient. All in all it cost him probably 30k at least to get a full unregulated private pilots license which I believe required 250 hours of flying and passing several tests. If he wants to fly commercial airlines he needs to fly another 1,250 hours at bare minimum.

Oh yes, there's no doubt that flying costs MAJOR bucks. This is why, most commercial pilots got their training thru their military service.

Fixed-wing is bad enough, rotary is even worse.

My earlier comments were based on getting the bare minimum of licensure.

Single engine only.

The FAA has a "Tiered" licensing system. For good reason.

Single

Multi

Commercial

Freight

Passenger

Dunno about SPACE, but the FAA probably has a license for that too. Must have to get a ton of hours for that, as I never see young people flying space craft. Except on StarTrek, maybe.

Hmmm. Not sure what's more dangerous. This flying car or a homemade submarine.
