Hello Everyone!

We are thinking to move from Torrance and would like to know about the safe neighborhood in the Walnut area. We have two daughters who go to elementary school, so good schools are a must. My husband will be driving or taking the metro from there.
We will be renting in this area so zip codes will be appreciated so I can search for rental

Do you mean Walnut Creek and Danville?

No, she means Diamond Bar and Walnut.

These are two cities in Los Angeles County that border San Bernardino County, though I had to look up their locations to be sure. I've heard of Diamond Bar, but not Walnut and I too would have wondered if the OP meant Walnut Creek.

This thread might be more accurately placed in the Los Angeles subforum.

Walnut in general is a great neighborhood. In general, it's pretty safe but "good neighborhood" is separated by school district, generally high school.

There are 2 high schools that serve the city, Walnut high school and Nogales high school. Walnut high school is very highly rated while Nogales is not so much. The general dividing line is (not strictly) by Lemon Avenue. So the eastern half of City is more desirable real estate wise.

Since you're renting and your daughters are in element school, real estate prices is less important to you. One tool you should use to find out which school district is highly rated.

Personally, I like the area north of Grand Avenue.
