I agree about the mandates. Knowing now what we didn't know then, wearing a mask seemed fairly pointless but if it makes others feel better, go ahead and wear it.

I think Covid is a bit more than a head cold, though. Not sure why some aren't affected severely while others wind up in the hospital with pneumonia. Again, I think it has to do with one's own immune system and overall health and whether you're prone to respiratory issues.

There's always a choice when it comes to being honest. Tragically, few choose honesty.

The saddest part of all of this is all those people who died in the hospital without a loved one to hold their hand, be by their side. Sure, they died of Covid but they also had underlying health issues that exacerbated it. No one in the news liked sharing that bit of information. Now we live with people still living in fear, afraid to go outside. Afraid to have a life worth living. What was done to people in this country is nothing more than evil.
San Diego County just did. I hope the leaders committed political suicide.

Apparently not under that kind of pressure. https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/28/polit...all/index.html

San Diego Unified School District, not San Diego County.

That's a hang-up of yours (government oversight as bad). I hadn't heard health departments set the visitors policy, but if true, it was done sensibly, almost definitely with strong input from hospitals and likely to make things happen fast and uniformly. Hospitals probably prefer to say "We can't make an exception, it's government policy" over arguing with families.

You of course fill in blanks with guesses that make me look bad. I didn't say to force kids to do that. In fact, let them visit boarding schools first to help choose. See if they feel like military schools or something much more pleasant than that. Many older children would prefer to hang out with peers over family. Few parents fret that they can't handle summer camp. What people should fret is likely no Omicron-updated vaccines for most children this coming semester and the virus as rampant as ever and the youths in for bad experiences that might include multiple infections. Boarding schools probably are safest for kids from the virus who wouldn't do well in remote learning

That was after significant fighting. Originally they did actually give birth alone.

If our double vaxxed, boosted, mask wearing POTUS got covid I don't see how little kids in school aren't going to mask or no mask.

You may be thinking of the UK. (Our sister-in-law and the daughters of three friends gave birth in 2020. Not a one was alone during labor or delivery.)
