I am very low income; I can barely cover my rent and PGE every month and I have 4 children. Back last year I was late paying my rent for August and then again in October. For both months I was charged a late fee of $50. I have since paid back the two months back rent and have been giving the property rental business a little extra. Here is where my confusion lies: they are adding late fees every month because my original late fees haven't been paid. So for several months they added $50, then increased our late fees to $75 with no notice. and for the past few months they have been adding that. I now owe almost 900, much of which are the late fees that keep accumulating. I will never get out from under this! Even if I pay half of that, which is what they are demanding I pay or they will evict me, I will still be charged that $75. Help!!!

juju, you probably are entitled to free legal aid. Try here Central California Legal Services

I do not believe what the landlord is doing is legal but contact the site I listed for clarification and to see what options you have
