Union thugs run California. This is no surprise. They won't be happy until every city and county are dead broke.

I agree! Unions have really hurt this state and will continue to do so until CA becomes bankrupt.

A long long time ago Unions had their place. Now it is time for them to step aside along with the Lobbyist.

CA and the US would recover in great strides if these two things took place.

I agree. Private sector unions okay whatever in some cases they ensure the employees get a fair wage which is good. Don't know much about unions in the private sector but at least the taypayers aren't picking up the check for their demands. But PUBLIC sector unions are a whole new animal. You're not negotiating with your boss, merely an endless supply of taxpayer money and your supervisor is often on your side. Everyone involved is sticking their hand in the money pot and it emboldens the unions to ask for more and more. It's insane. Combine that with a very politically correct "everybody is a special butterfly we don't like saying no" state then the leverage is on their side and they know it.

Public sector unions should have never been given life in the first place. Can't we just have a reasonable set pay scale and they can take it or leave it like any other job? No negotiating and demanding, everything is out there and this is what you get. Wasn't it Franklin Roosevelt who warned about this? I know they're a fairly recent phenomenon that begun around the 1950's when some mayor or elected official in NYC allowed them and he subsequently won the election. Politicians took note, and found it to be a successful strategy for winning elections and BOOM here we are today. Worked out well didn't it? lol. Some things have honest intentions but in reality they just don't work in reality. We're in America where greed prevails, unfortunately. But what you don't hear on the media is this is a different kind of greed. They talk about the corporations being greedy which many of them are. But they don't talk about the greed on the other side when the Democratic Party is getting financial support from these public unions bankrupting states and cities. The greediness goes through both political parties.

California is making the bed they sleep in and what has happened (and will continue to happen) is all their undoing. It's become laughable, actually. Picking up the paper and hearing about the hundreds of new laws enacted by the governor. Or more recently, something about employee cars that they got expensive repairs and touch-ups on taxpayer dime right before they had to turn in the keys or purchase. Does it ever end? lol. Don't even read the paper much but I swear there's some BS involving our state every-time I pick it up! I see no end in sight as I think the political ineptness is too deeply entrenched and the status quo benefits too many people with too much power.

Oh well I'll have moved on anyways but will visit and cherish the memories .

After all their complaints about public employee unions and perks it's interesting, but not surprising, that the people handed the helm of the state back to the person who gave it away to the unions in the first place. Go figure!

Well, if you look at how many voted vs who was eligible to vote it starts to add up.

Yep. This is the point all along. The PEOPLE in this state have voted for public unions over and over again. Only a minority of people complain.

The people of this state get what they voted for. They voted for the liberal socialist ideals which define this state. One of them is workers rights, including unions. Public or otherwise. Now they complain after getting what they want.
