Better than the Eighteenth Amendment worked out for us. That's the Eighteenth Amendment, as in Prohibition, the wonderful social experiment that led to the rise and firm establishment of organized crime in the USofA.

You want to guarantee the rise and survival of brutal organized crime syndicates? Make stuff illegal.

Santa Clarita is not the "Meth Capitol" of California! (big ol' face-palm!)

Try Oroville, Marysville, Susanville, Yuba City, Redding, Needles, Barstow, Yucca Valley...

Everyone knows that the SCV has a huge Heroin problem. I personally did not know about the Meth problem, but I am not really that surprised. I know that drugs are big problems in the highschools. It seems like the more money you have in places the bigger drug problems that arise.

Who is everybody?
What is a "huge" heroin problem? I suppose by definition if one person out of 150,000 is using heroin, that's huge as the use of heroin isn't the healthiest addiction in the world.

Are you joking? Just type Santa Clarita and Heroin into any search engine, and you will get pages and pages of all the heroin related problems and deaths every year. Here a just a small number of all the news articles that came up!

Santa Clarita Fights Back Against Rise in Heroin Use | NBC Southern California

SCVNews.com | Parents Implore Public to Help Stop Heroin Deaths | 10-11-2012

These are just a couple of links.

I am glad that Santa Clarita is trying to fight this huge problem, but to ignore the fact that it exists is folly, and does not help anybody.

Santa Clarita is already known as the Meth capital of CA. I am sick and tired of hearing of all the drugs that are in the public schools. Something needs to be done. The more that people pretend this problem does not exist, the worse the problem becomes. There is nothing for our young people to do, so they turn to drugs.
I don't buy the "nothing to do" argument. I think the drug problem anywhere is a symptom of a lot of other problems we have in the human race. I'd say it comes down to being both spiritually and emotionally ignorant. When people have spiritual/emotional voids in their lives, they often turn to various compulsions/addictions (consumerism, sex, drugs, etc.) to fill that void.

Although most people would resist a simple solution, I believe daily meditation could help a lot with this:
