Hi, my family and I are moving to SoCal from Alameda. My husband will be working in West Hollywood and we have family in Anaheim, Garden Grove and Orange. He will be working from 4pm-Midnight. We are looking for a town that has a community feel, similar to where we live now. We like parks, mom & pop stores, and outdoor events. I've searched high and low: Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Hacienda Heights, South Pasadena, Redondo Beach, and even Fullerton.

Ideally, my husband would have a 30 min commute, good public schools, nice neighbors (kids play together) and close parks.

Does anyone have a recommendation? Any input would be helpful. It's hard to decide on a place to settle when all I have to go by is impersonal internet info.

Thanks for your help

culver city, beverly hills, sherman oaks, studio city...none of those places come cheap though.

Los Feliz/Silverlake and South Pasadena would be good choices to keep the commute sane. The other locations would allow your husband to fully experience the infamous "LA Traffic" during his 4:00 PM commute.

Between the two, South Pasadena would be my choice, as it has excellent public schools and a small town feel.

Eh West Hollywood is notorious for having a large homosexual population. If you are more the Christian type like the people of OC, then I suggest looking into more of the San Gabriel Valley and west San Fernando Valley.
