But instead, the state party — once a symbol of Republican hope and geographical reach and which gave the nation Ronald Reagan (and Richard M. Nixon) — is caught in a cycle of relentless decline, and appears in danger of shrinking to the rank of a minor party.

“We are at a lower point than we’ve ever been,” said Representative Kevin McCarthy, the No. 3 Republican in the United States House of Representatives. “It’s rebuilding time.”

Registered Republicans now account for just 30 percent of the California electorate, and are on a path that analysts predict could drop them to No. 3 in six years, behind Democrats, who currently make up 43 percent, and independent voters, with 21 percent.

Because Stanford, UCLA, Cornell, Columbia, Hollywood, Broadway, Juilliard, the MacArthur Genius Grants headquarters, are definitely in "Blue" states.

Must be a bit dead in the Texas fora this evening. They seem to be flying around our porch light.

The GOP is hopelessly lost and confused. There was a time when most people would vote for a moderate Republican over a moderate Democrat. The GOP had the upper hand when they were normal. It's almost like they're doing this on purpose to their party.

A possible future for the CA Republican Party? If Massachusetts and New York can still elect Republicans, California can too:

The Third-Worlding Of California? Or The Northeasterning? | The American Conservative

However, for the CA GOP to recover, it will first have to admit it has a problem.

I agree. That's why Nathan Fletcher left the Republican Party. He felt they are too extreme. I would have no problem voting for a Republican if they all weren't Jan Brewers and Sarah Palins. Democrats are much safer now in my opinion.
