I am considering a job offer in redlands. I am moving from New York. And my boyfriend is moving from San Francisco. Being in those 2 most gay-friendly cities for so long, both of us are a little anxious about this possible move. My questions are:

1. Is Redlands a safe place to live?
2. Is Redlands gay-friendly? Is it more liberal or conservative?
3. I consider renting a place first. Where is the safest place to live in Redlands?
4. I am a city guy. Although I don't go out a lot, I do enjoy the noise and crowd of a city. How is the commute between redlands and LA/Palm Springs? Is that feasible to buy a place in LA or Palm Springs or somewhere in between and commute everyday (It takes me at least 1 hr on public transportation to get to work each way in New York anyway).

Sorry I have so many questions. Any suggestions/advice will be appreciated.

Happy holidays!

I don’t think you’ll have any problems in Redlands. I use to do a lot of business in Redlands and for me it was hard to gauge which way the town leaned politically. The commute to the Coachella Valley is pretty quick, or was pretty quick ten years ago. I think it took me just under an hour to get to the I-10 Date Palm exit in Cat city from Tennessee street Redlands.

If I was looking to buy in a central location I would look at Yucaipa, CA.
