How did someone steal your head gasket? I trust you have insurance.

Water leak in house, I trust you have insurance.

If you paid 10,000 in income tax, then your income is such that those other expenses are inconsequential.

Old age and 196K miles stole my head gasket.
I have insurance but my deductible is $5000. $1800 to reroute piles (can't jackhammer because the house is 1997 and there's high tension cable in the slab) and $3000 for water damage.
The big tax bill is due to an inheritance and a corporate relocation the benefit of which ($80K) is counted as income. (My company did reimburse me for the taxes though - so they are really paying those taxes.) An AMT of over $4000 too.

Oops. That would probably be worse than $1800 for pipes rerouted - Though it would be covered by health insurance - unless the insurance company considers it cosmetic.
