So I've accepted a job at Edwards AFB and will be moving from WV to CA very soon. I've been looking at just about every apartment rental website, realty sites, newspapers, craigslist, etc. trying to find places to live and i'm stuck, so any help/advice is greatly appreciated. I am a single female and would prefer to live somewhere that doesn't suffer from rampant drug problems. I don't know exactly where on Edwards I will be working so right now i'm open to all city options. I've looked at some reviews of apartments on apartmentratings.com and it seems the just about everything in the Lancaster area has gotten bad reviews, from B&E, car theft, dangerous drugs, and assault. Now I know that every area has "bad" areas and you get what you pay for, but if I could get some advice on apartments/homes/condos for rent that are a little safer that'd be great. I'd like to not be an hour from a grocery store, but I don't HAVE to be downtown near the "action" as i'm pretty much a homebody. So if you LOVE where you live, i'd LOVE to hear about it.

Thanks in advance.

Edwards is so out there. From different maps I use, you might look west of the 14 and south of Avenue L in the Quartz Hill area.
You might consider Tehachipi too.
